THE W.J.S.N!

Anyone who has stumbled across this page will probably be perplexed (to say the least!) and have absolutely no idea what the hell the Whisky and Jason Spy Network is all about. It is a very long story, but as time progresses I hope to put together some history here and share with the world at large some nostalgia - that is, some of the sillyness of my youth!

Silly Nostalgic Images!

  • The First drawing of Mr Mutant I ever Saw! (1987) This one was drawn during recess or lunch at some stage, way back in 1987 - the artist is the legendary Matthew McCarthy himself! I can remember this day like it was yesterday, incidentally. They've gone and built new school rooms over the spot, so someday when we need to put up a plaque, it'll be hard to find a place to nail it.

  • My first attempt at Jerry! (1987) The original design for Jerry was Matthew's. Following the recess or lunch break when he actually drew the first official "Jerry", I basically copied his drawing as exactly as I could manage. The drawing you're looking at here is the very first "official" Jerry that I ever drew.

  • My first attempt at jerry, in context. (1987) This is the same as the last link, only it shows the panel with Jerry in context - basically just a complete scan of the entire page in the drawing book. This image is HUGE, so if you're using a dialup, you'd better go and have dinner while it downloads.

    • The pre Whisky and Jason period

    Prior to the 8th of April 1989, there was no W.J.S.N. Much of the drawing prior to this revolves around Jerry and A.J.Tom with the odd appearance of Hitler here and there.

    In this section I'll include some of the drawings from this period. You should be warned that most of these drawings have something of a lunatic edge and show just how much free time I had on my hands in those long gone days.
